THE TAKEOVER AND WHAT IT MEANS TO LUTON

Former Baldock Chairman Mike Watson-Challis, has promised to bring the "glory days back to kenilworth road club. Mr. Watson-Challis had a stint as a Luton director between 1987 and 1991 and is the newly announced successor to Cliff Basset's Chairman role. Basset himself will remain on the revamped board along side the conclusion of a few new faces.

John Mitchell (Former Fulham Footballer), Eric Hood (St Albans businessman) and Yvonne Fletcher (of FLAG) have been invited to join the board.

Other Appointments will be made shortly. The new chairman is expected to announce plans for a new stadium, believed to be a 12,000 all seater at junction 10 of the M1 very soon (possibly today TUES)

Lawrence still hopefull on Roberts

Town manager Lennie Lawrence insists he is desperate to bring Ben Roberts to the club permanently. Roberts spent a loan spell at Luton at the end of last season after languishing in the reserves at Middlesbrough.
He is out-of-contract at the Riverside and was set for a dream move to Liverpool last week.
But Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier opted instead for Leicester City's reserve goalkeeper Peggy Arphexad and Roberts is now a free agent, much to Lawrence's delight.
"There is no doubt that he is a quality goalkeeper," said Lawrence. "Before the end of the season, I told him he could benefit from another season with us. Now, hopefully he will take my advice.
"He can be a number two at a Premiership club now, but if he stayed at Luton and continued to play in the first team I'm sure he could go to a Premiership club as a number one next year."
Roberts, 25, hinted that he would welcome an opportunity to stay at Kenilworth Road after his brief spell between the posts for Luton.
"It's a nice club to play for and I enjoyed my time there," said Roberts.
"I know they want me to stay and that is not out of the question. There are still other options, but I will make a decision soon."

The New Owners Are True Football Fans

"The club's new owners are true football fans," according to Bassett, who relinquished his control of the club in the recent takeover by Mike Watson-Challis. Bassett also stated that, "The new ownership consists of people who are astute business people whose initial interest is football,"
"The deal has been done. Its worked out as good as we could have possibly hoped for," he added.
The new owner revealed to fans earlier in the week his aims for the hatters, stating "My personal aim and ambition is to ensure the club returns to its former strength and glory and will focus its attention first and foremost on football led matters that jointly benefit the local community."

Thomas Eyes Luton Return

Former Luton player Mitchell Thomas may be reunited with the club as player coach in the summer. Thomas has been linked with a return south after it was reported that he was offered just a one-year deal at newly promoted Burnley. If Thomas is to join it will be his third spell with the club
